25.5.2026: SPHERE at ENRE 2026

We are pleased to share that our team members Niko Lukač and Marko Bizjak represented the SPHERE team at the 7th International Conference on Energy & Responsibility (ENRE 2026) in Velenje on 19 May 2026.

Their contribution, “The Rise of Physics-Informed Neural Networks for Large-Scale Energy Resource Assessment”, explored how Physics-Informed Neural Networks (PINNs) are reshaping the way we approach energy resource modelling.

This work is carried out within the SPHERE project, supported by the Slovenian Research and Innovation Agency (ARIS).

24. 04. 2026: SPHERE Project Kickoff – We’re officially off to a start!

Maribor, April 24, 2025 — The SPHERE project officially launched with a kickoff meeting held at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (UM FERI), University of Maribor.

The meeting brought together the project team from the GeMMA Lab (University of Maribor), who will coordinate the project, and the Geodetic Institute of Slovenia (Geodetski inštitut Slovenije), the project’s partner institution. The two teams will collaborate closely over the next three years on this core research project funded by the Slovenian Research and Innovation Agency (ARIS).

During the meeting, the team outlined the main research goals and planned pilots, and discussed how to best approach the work in the months and years ahead. Key methodological directions were identified and the groundwork was laid for a productive and well-coordinated collaboration between the two institutions.

SPHERE is a basic research project No. J7-70247 is financed by Slovenian Research and Innovation Agency.
